On Line People Limited are currently looking for a Senior Instrument Designer to work for one of our major clients based in Pembroke. This is a contract position, working full time on a nine-day fortnight.

Role: Senior Instrument Designer

Job Description:

Senior Instrument designer to work within the engineering design department at a working refinery to assist in the production of design deliverables to support ongoing OPEX projects and minor CAPEX work.

 

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Significant experience in conducting site surveys on various types of instrumentation equipment and systems and able to define scopes of work based on such surveys
  • Proficient in the production of all instrumentation engineering deliverables i.e. Instrument drawings, data sheets, I/O wiring diagrams, P&IDs, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs
  • 5 years’ experience in an Engineering design office / project environment
  • Experienced the use of & application of IEC 61508/11
  • Experience in the validation of SIF's
  • Reliability modelling of instrument loops
  • Experience in the design and selection of equipment for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres e.g. ATEX / DSEAR
  • Analyse reports, maps, drawings, tests and other data to plan and design work
  • Assemble bid, approval and construction issue drawing packages
  • Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication
  • Preparing purchase specifications
  • Complete project design estimates
  • Liaise with Project Engineers to produce design/construction deliverables for various refinery projects
  • Address technical queries from the installation sub-contractor
  • Verify ‘as-built’ documentation post-construction

 

Qualifications:

  • HNC / BTEC or equivalent in Instrumentation & Control discipline, experience in lieu be considered
  • Engineering Apprenticeship plus formal design office training
  • Preferable certification in functional safety
  • Preferable Oil & Gas / Petrochemical experience
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCad
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel
